Network Institute Research Visit: Isadora Vitória do Rêgo Xavier

I’m Isadora, and I am a master’s student at UPE (Universidade de Pernambuco, Brazil). My research focuses on recurrent neural networks and their application to sequential data. I am mainly working on applying and improving these models for money laundering detection in bank transactions, in collaboration with the Civil Police of Pernambuco. I was selected for the Network Institute Research Visit program to collaborate with the AI & Behaviour group for a month, and I am extremely grateful for all the support. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, during which I worked on Data-Centric AI approaches for sequential data, also applied to money laundering detection. During my stay here, I will incorporate network analysis into transaction data to characterize the fundamental limits of money laundering detection under data-access restrictions.
